Recipe Slow-Cooker Pork Chops and Mushrooms

This is an excellent recipe to serve to company, friends and family. This is an excellent main course, which you can put in a crock pot making it easy to prepare. Before I get into the specific instructions here is a list of the ingredients.

1 package of white or brown mushrooms
2 tablespoons butter and olive oil
1 and 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
6 (1-inch thick bone-in pork chops or about 3 p pounds)
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 large sweet onion, sliced
3 – 4 chicken bouillon cubes or (paste)

Step 1. Place the flour on a flat surface, or a plate; and dredge each pork chop in the flour and set aside. Then after melting some butter and olive oil in a skillet, add the floured pork chops and brown the pork chops about 3 minutes per side.

Step 2. Next, combine mustard, salt and pepper and garlic and sprinkle over the pork chops in the skillet. (or some people wait to sprinkle these ingredients over the chops after they have placed them in the slow cooker.)

Step 3. Next transfer the pork chops to the slow cooker.

Step 4. Reserve the pan drippings in the skillet for use later:

Step 5. Sauté chopped / or sliced ​​comments in the pork chop drippings for about 6 to 7 minutes or until the comments become translucent. Add chicken bouillon now or wait and add it to the slow cooker.

Step 6. Add onions (along with the pan drippings for extra flavor) to your slow cooker and cook on LOW for 3 – 4 hours.

Step 7. Next after about 1 hour, add the mushrooms.

Step 8. Cook an additional 1 – 1 1/2 hours or until meat is tender and mushrooms are done. Note: You may want to add a tablespoon of water or chicken broth to keep the meat moist, just use your discretion.

Note: Depending upon your slow cooker, or crock pot cooker; these cooking times may need to be adjusted. Use your own discretion, and if you decide to turn the heat up to HIGH on the cooker, you of course will not need to cook the chops as long.

Next here is a great side dish to serve with your pork chops.

A great side dish with pork chops are baked potatoes which cook well in crock pots. Here is a tip on baking potatoes in crock pots. After cleaning and rinsing a large baking potato, prick the potato with a fork. (I like to use Russet or Idaho potatoes)

Then place the potato on a piece of foil and sprinkle with olive oil, (2 tablespoons will cover 4 – 5 potatoes). Next I sprinkle the potatoes with coarse salt and then wrap the potato up and bake it in the crock pot for 2 – 4 hours or until they are done. You will need to adjust the time depending on whether you use LOW or HIGH heat. The mushroom sauce in the crock pot with the pork chops makes a wonderful gravy for a hot baked potato.

Remember do not place the fake baked potatoes in the same crock pot as your pork chops – you will need 2 crock pots if you make these recipes at the same time.
